STEAMPUNK 34

Dear MY DEAR WIFE. I’m very proud of what you have accomplished. You should be too. You’ve done it. That said, this doesn’t mean you weren’t faced with challenges. The journey up until this point, isn’t sugarcoated. The simple act of a bat mitzvah is hard, difficult. It takes years of practice, the learning of a new language. The Jewish customs, lessons, and culture. I stand with you. I stand here for you if you need someone to lean on. But you are doing this for yourself, whether it’s hard or easy, it’s what you feel is right. You never said this is impossible. And here you are, building a foundation of religious piety.

Your hard work and determination is rewarded. Your accomplishments (and yes sometimes in the face of adversity), have shown me that nothing you set your mind to, is impossible. I want this day, this memory, to be a gift, to yourself, and all those who have been on this journey with you. My mother, Bubbie, would always say, “God helps those who help themselves.” No one is perfect. Your laborious effort gives me faith that G-d is with you. With Zophia, with our families (both extended and intimate). And, as long as we learn from the mistakes in the past, we won’t fail. I believed in you from day one. This belief cements us in the stars of the heavens.

Who would have thought that the journey along the way would lead us here? But your faith had never faltered. You are truly a leader and an example to Zophia.
